2008 marks the 15th anniversary of ICON Film Studios. Since 1993, Simon Lynx and Chris Woods have been making films, and in those 15 years, they've made over 20 films and worked on many different productions. They started off in their hometown of Utica, New York then moved on to Tampa Bay in 1995. Although they weren't called ICON Film Studios until 2002, both Lynx and Woods have been working on films together for 15 years and continue to produce the best films and productions that they can do. No Average Joe: The Story of Joe Redner is almost done with production and will go into post-production soon. There’s a brand new trailer for the documentary posted on MySpace and You Tube.

Chris Woods has just finished editing a reality show pilot entitled Stripper for a Day. Go to their MySpace page, where you can check out some of the show. The producers of the show will be shopping it around to different networks.

ICON Film Studios will be starting up some more productions in early 2008. ICON’s next short film will be All That Remains, a horror story written by Simon Lynx and will be directed by Chris Woods. We’ll have more info on this project in the next coming months, plus other projects will be working on.

Tampa Film Review’s 4th Anniversary will be Friday, January 11th, 2008. The event will start an hour earlier at 7pm and will give out awards for the best films of 2007 that played at TFR. For more information on the event, click here.

Right now a Tampa Bay cable channel, Tampa Bay On Demand is showing local short films. ICON’s short version to their future feature film POP is now on On Demand, and you can watch it anytime and as many times as you want until August 1st. The channel is showing other short films as well and will also be showing a segment on the new horror film 100 Tears from filmmakers Marcus Koch and Joe Davison, which they are premiering their film in Tampa later this month. ICON Film Studios is a huge fan of wrestling and has met many superstars through out the years. Meeting such names as Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Hulk Hogan, The Nasty Boys, Bobby Lashley, and C.M. Once Bay News 9 and TBOD start to move forward with this they’ll be a master address to mail movies to. WARNING: Just giving everyone a heads up about one thing. Tampa Bay On Demand is very PG and G rated. So films with language, violence, sexual content, nudity, adult themes, etc., CAN NOT be shown. Sorry about that but it is Television. But, if you edit your film for television you can probably get them in.

Red Woods Productions, a division of ICON Film Studios is involved with producing a documentary on the life of famous strip club owner and political activist, Joe Redner. The film will be directed by Shelby McIntyre who is an ICON member but will be producing under his new company name, Aphelion Worldwide Entertainment along with Red Woods. The working title for the film is now No Average Joe: The Story of Joe Redner. Right now the film is in production and hope to release the film by this summer. There is also a new site launched for the film, joerednerthemovie.com where you can read more about the film and watch the trailer to the documentary.

The POP scenes are finally up on line! These are the scenes that were shot back in 2003 to help create buff to get investors interested in the project. You can view the two scenes right here on this site. Click here to view them.

Early this month, The Horror and Hotties Film Festival took place. ICON’s own Chris Woods was there to take in some of the films. Read his article on the fest on CrazedFanboy.com. Also view some pix from the fest that are up on The Tampa Film Network site. Awesome job done by Andy Lalino, Andrew Allan , Uncle Creey, and Krista Grotte on the festival.

The next Tampa Film Review will be Friday, April 13th and will feature a classic Creeping Death episode, Warhammer. It’s also the tenth anniversary for the episode. Click here for more information on TFR.
